when matlab shows nothing after start up
$sudo gedit /usr/local/matlab*/bin/matlab
and add the following line (I added in the first line of the file)
export MATLAB_JAVA=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/

setting up korean in Ubuntu
For 8.04, 9.04:
sudo apt-get install uim anthy scim-gtk2-immodule scim-uim scim-chinese scim-hangul scim-tables-zh scim-tables-ja scim-tables-ko
sudo touch /etc/X11/Xsession.d/74custom-scim_startup
sudo chmod 646 /etc/X11/Xsession.d/74custom-scim_startup
echo 'export XMODIFIERS="@im=SCIM"' >> /etc/X11/Xsession.d/74custom-scim_startup
echo 'export GTK_IM_MODULE="scim"' >> /etc/X11/Xsession.d/74custom-scim_startup
echo 'export XIM_PROGRAM="scim -d"' >> /etc/X11/Xsession.d/74custom-scim_startup
echo 'export QT_IM_MODULE="scim"' >> /etc/X11/Xsession.d/74custom-scim_startup

For 10.04, realize there's language option in system
* adm > language install korean
* installed scim-hangul
then did below to pop up from boot
sudo apt-get install scim-tables-ko
sudo touch /etc/X11/Xsession.d/74custom-scim_startup
sudo chmod 646 /etc/X11/Xsession.d/74custom-scim_startup

mogrify to modify image
To change format:
$ mogrify -format jpg -quality 90 *.tif
To change size:
$ mogrify -path thumbs -format jpg -define jpeg:size=240x180 -thumbnail 120x90 'images/*.jpg'
$ mogrify -format jpg -quality 90 *.tif
To change size:
$ mogrify -path thumbs -format jpg -define jpeg:size=240x180 -thumbnail 120x90 'images/*.jpg'
